The Jotnar Biography (as yet unfinished)
In the event that the person reading this is of a short attention span, I shall exclude anything about the band that has anything to do with anything other than the band and/or music…
Here’s the deal, in 1993 Rob Armstrong and Mike Jacobs were in a progressive garage band (run by Jeff Rak) called “Junction 83â€Â. Also in 1993, Jim Mattey and Ian Morrison were in a crazy band called Faded Thoughts. In 1994 “Junction 83†parted ways, as did “Faded Thoughtsâ€Â. ------- (Jeff Rak is currently in a band called "The Orbitor")
In 1994, a band called “Splurge†lost their bass player, and Jeremy Moen decided to call a guy he went to school with named Mike Jacobs to see if he could play bass for “Splurgeâ€Â. In late 1994, “Splurge†was ---Mike Jacobs-bass / Brian Jones-guitar / Jeremy Moen-guitar / Bones Stevanus-drums / Liney Woodrum-vocals……………….
In 1995, Jeremy Moen left “Splurge†and Ian Morrison was called into action to play bass, and Mike moved to guitar…at the same time, “The Colorado Biosphere†was formed, initially featuring : Ben Burdick / Mark Rhodes / Ronnie Taylor / Stacy Palmer / Britt Fate / Brian Jones / Ian Morrison / and Tyne Daly……At a siding, a band was formed to play some old floyd and janes addiction tunes at a high school show : "PROJECT ELK!" consisted of Ian Morrison / Mark Rhodes / Mike Jacobs / Zach Stevens / and Chad Szeliga.....Then in late 1995/early1996, Bones left “Splurgeâ€Â, and Bobby Schneider filled in on drums long enough to record the only “Splurge†studio recording : “What Are You Hiding?†------- (Jeremy Moen is currently in a band called "Brother Phoenix") ( Ronnie Taylor is currently in a band called "Devised by the Enemy") (Chad Szeliga is currently in a band called "Switched")
In 1996 the NEW AND IMPROVED-ISH IMPOVERISHED “Colorado Biosphere†took up shop in Bowling Green Ohio : Ben Burdick-vocals and kazoo / Mark Rhodes-guitar and vocals / Ian Morrison-bass and vocals / Liney Woodrum-drums and vocals / Mike Jacobs-guitar and vocals / ALSO FEATURING : Rob Armstrong-keyboards / T. J. –keyboards / Jason Gookins-the driveway to the biosphere / Matt Pierce-sonic manipulation / Jenny Kaliszewski-screams / Jason Smith-batman cloak / Bobby Baggett-sax / Ryan Valine-vocals --------- (Mark Rhodes is currently in a band called "Mescalito Funk" and Ben Burdick is currently running an independent film company called "Big Scary Owl")
In 1997, "The Jotnar" formed as musical acquaintances : Rob Armstrong-keyboards and vocals / Mike Jacobs-guitar and vocals / Jim Mattey-guitar and vocals / Ian Morrison-bass and vocals / Liney Woodrum-drums and vocals
as of 2000 Jim Mattey is currently lives in Utah, but still makes it to 6% of the shows!!!
as of 2001 Mark Violand is currently adding saxophone to our shows
as of June 2002 (6 years after the junebug fest) Ronnie Taylor has joined the group!!!

also on 8-16-02 Hi Fi Club - mere minutes before we found out we got shafted by the meters, Rob Liney and Mike jumped up with Brother Phoenix to jam on their last song with them...the stage was 165 degrees!!! fun though
